Lifesupport Donates a New Ambulance This Holiday Season
“The best thing to do with the best things in life is to give them away.” — Dorothy Day
‘Tis the season to be jolly—and help others in need. At Lifesupport, we believe that the joy of giving is the secret to happiness. There are many ways to give. You can offer up your time, deliver needed guidance, or share some of your wealth. But what kind of gift translates into the joy of giving for us? Why, an ambulance, of course.
Did you know that Liberia only has one Western ambulance in a country of 5 million? Well, for a company that specializes in critical care transport services, you can imagine that didn’t sit too well with us—so, we decided to do something about it!
On Thursday December 12th, at the Vancouver General Hospital, Lifesupport donated a fully outfitted ambulance for expectant mothers in West Africa to Korle-Bu Neuroscience Foundation—a charity focused on brain and spine health conditions.
The first obstetrics-focused ambulance in Liberia, this emergency medical services vehicle, which will also be used for transporting and treating neuroscience patients, will rush Liberian women to hospitals during the most critical moments of childbirth, saving the lives of both mothers and their babies.
This much needed ambulance comes fully equipped, complete with all the necessities like oxygen, suction, defibrillator, and everything else needed to assist women in labour on route to a medical care facility.
Turning this vision into a reality was a huge undertaking that required great people with great hearts to see it through. The project couldn’t be possible without the wonderful help from a couple of local businesses. The new ambulance will be shipped overseas—alongside an incubator, neurosurgical microscope, and other lifesaving supplies—thanks to the generous support of Nicola Wealth and Diamond Deliver.
It was our great privilege to be able to partner with Korle-Bu Neuroscience Foundation, Nicola Wealth, and Diamond Deliver to make this monumental Christmas miracle happen. Thanks to everyone involved, countless women in Liberia will have a safe and successful pregnancy.
The gift of life is the most precious offering any of us can ever expect to give. And here at LIFESUPPORT, we are truly touched and grateful to be a part of something so special.
The holiday season is here, and with it comes the blitz of marketing campaigns hyping up this year’s hottest gifts! It is so easy to get caught up in it all!
We would like to invite you to dig deep and find your special gift and share it with the people who need it most. After all, isn’t that what the holiday season is all about?
From all of us at Lifesupport, we want to wish all of you a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season.
